Who is Mollybird? We're a small team of humans who dream of living in a healthy society with strong communities. We believe there are untapped opportunities and creative strategies that will allow us to be the change we want to see in the world. We believe in healing. We're excited by the future and have not lost hope. We're committed to chasing our demons until we can laugh them in the face.

What inspired the name Mollybird? The name Mollybird originated in two parts. Molly: Our founder's teenage daughter has had significant mental health struggles. Molly is a variation of her name. Ironically, the name Molly has both positive and negative meaning associated with it - from the negative meaning: 'bitter' to the positive: 'star of the sea', 'beloved', 'wished for' and 'friend', it is an apt description of the dichotomy of life: wonderfully hard. Bird: Nature has many healing lessons to teach us. One early morning, in the middle of a very dark season, our founder woke to a persistent birdsong. It was as though the bird was singing to her and as though she could understand the words being sung. The little songbird was asking, "Do you see what I see?" - a reminder that even in the midst of tragedy and heartache, something beautiful can still emerge. -- Since launching Mollybird, we have come across the stories of amazing 'Molly's". We are currently compiling a database of remarkable Molly's. One day we hope we can create a 'wall of fame' - if you know of someone who should or would like to be included, you can email us at molly@mollybird.org

How can I apply for funding? We have a very simple application form that can be submitted via this website. We're working hard to make the process as simple as possible. We accept applications from: - individuals (self-referrals) relating to their personal circumstances - referrals from friends, families, neighbors and colleagues - referrals from service providers on behalf of prospective clients. Note: we will give priority to those who are applying on behalf of, or nominating someone, for a Mollybird grant.
-
How are funds distributed? All donations to the Mollybird Fund are distributed to service providers (i.e. therapists, counselling practices, tutors, sports clubs) directly. This ensures transparency. Funds are distributed according to a priority matrix based on need, impact and availability of funds.

We recently submitted an application, when will we find out whether the application was successful? We aim to respond to all applications within 2 weeks. In some cases, we may contact you or your sponsor for clarifying details. Please note, allocation of funds is on a priority matrix and distribution times/amounts will vary according to our fundraising success. Unfortunately, due to the small nature of our organization, we can't respond to individual email or phone queries.

This is such an awesome idea. What's next and is there a way I can get involved? We have a great pipeline of ideas centred around building resilient, mentally stable and productive individuals and families. We are currently also exploring the idea of a crowdfunding element, to enable donors to give to individual stories. Stay tuned! If you want to get involved beyond donating to the Mollybird Fund, we are always open to having a chat to see if there might be a good fit for some of the volunteer and intern opportunities that we have. You can reach out to us at hello@mollybird.org
